Internships & Mentorship Programs
What is an internship?
Internships are experiences like volunteering but with/in more work-like environments, like being in an office, for example, or helping workers do duties that help with their business. Internships are excellent preparation for "real life" and they show leadership, initiative, and a willingness to do with others. Also, internships are perfect to include in your college/university, apprenticeships, and scholarship applications. Internships are common in high school, in college/university, and even after studies as a way to learn about new industries. Some internships are even paid internships, which mean they are jobs.

What is a mentorship program?
Mentoring programs give students opportunities to gain and improve important skills like problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking, often in areas related to a future career interest. This can benefit students as they plan for college or enter the workforce. Some examples are below.
2026 Manufacturing Student Development Program - Boeing's Core Plus Aerospace Program (Application) - Due January 20, 2026
Real-world manufacturing and industrial maintenance experience in a paid, on-site, hands-on program with tailored training, factory tours, resume & interviewing skills workshops and networking with Boeing employees. See VIDEO
What to Expect: Students will learn mechanical assembly and electrical installation, blueprint reading, precision measurement, Lean manufacturing and other critical advanced manufacturing skills. Activities will include hands-on projects, job site exposure, tours and resume and interview workshops.
This program is a good fit for rising high school seniors and recent graduates with experience using tools in a shop class or shop club environment and an interest in pursuing manufacturing careers.
This program is typically NOT a good fit for students primarily interested in learning about Engineering or design processes. This is a hands-on training experience that will not include exposure to engineers.
Candidate Prerequisites: Aged 16+ on July 7, 2026. Have completed at least junior year on July 6, 2026. Have participated in a shop style class, exposed to tools and safety practices before July 2025.
Dates: July 7 to August 20, 2026 (participants must be in the Puget Sound region to collect their badge during the week before July 7, no later thatn 5:30am on July 6, 2026)
Site Assignments: Everett, Renton, Auburn; Shift: 8 hours with 30 min. lunch, 6:00am-2:30pm
Wages: Minimum wage for city of assigned site. Returning students receive extra $1 an hour
Project Girl Mentoring Program
Project Girl Mentoring is a local 501c3 organization in Lynnwood that works with young women of color between the ages of 11-18. We work to teach important life skills, healthy coping mechanisms and have an emphasis on self-esteem building. Our goal is to create individual connections, invite them into our space, and hopefully create a rapport enough to build a mentorship in whichever way works best for that student. Whether its solely through Meet and Chat visits, potential telementoring or in person at our site.

ACE Mentor Program (Architecture Construction & Engineering)
ACE Mentor Program (Architecture Construction & Engineering) - DEADLINE: OCT. 10, 2025

WHAT: A free after-school program where teams of students are paired with teams of professionals in the building design and construction industry to learn about career opportunities in a hands-on process by designing a project together over the course of about 15 sessions. LOGIN & JOIN

WHERE: Meetings will be held in the offices of mentors. We will have 7 teams in Seattle, 3 teams on the Eastside and 2 teams in the South Sound. We are also currently hoping for one fully virtual team.

WHEN: The deadline is Oct. 4, 2024!! Kick-off events will begin this October and then meetings will occur regularly as the teams prepare for their final presentations.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Step 1: Access the application page online at https://app.acementor.org/login
- Step 2: Login using a personal email address and password. (We recommend using a gmail, outlook, yahoo, etc., account.)
- Step 3: When logged in, a student can 1 - click APPLY NOW or 2 - click Program Years on the left-hand side of the Dashboard, then find 2024-2025 and click Apply as a Student.
- Step 4: The first page two pages are student information, and the third page assigns students to Seattle. PLEASE choose a sub-region of Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, or Virtual.
- Step 5: The system will send the Parent Consent Form to a parent’s email address. A student will not be accepted into the program until the Consent Form is signed and received.
